Waiting

I am not by nature a patient person. While I prefer to live at a slower pace than some, I do like to be on the move - doing something, making progress. I’ve had the building for over two months now, and progress feels slow. Painfully slow.

The past three weeks have been spent waiting. Initially, I was waiting for the measured drawings. They arrived on Monday. Hooray! I immediately forwarded them to the architect, only to be rewarded by an out of office auto-reply. Bah. Waiting again.

So, I’m consoling myself by trying to make incremental progress on the things that are within my control. Such as, taking out the remaining rubbish one bin bag at a time. And designing window stickers to put up in time for the Bishop Auckland Food Festival, which will be taking place at the end of April directly across the street.

As Elizabeth Gilbert says, any motion whatsoever beats inertia. Even baby steps have forward momentum.
